Florida Cracker Sheep - Preserving a piece of Florida's Heritage
Rockin C Ranch's main objective is the preservation of the Florida Cracker Sheep as well as educated the public about the Florida Cracker Sheep.
We are located on the outskirts of Deland, Florida and was started as a 4-H project for the three boys in 2009 with the youngest being 6 years old at the start but has flourished into a "real" farm since then.
Sheep were not the first livestock project for the boys and far from the only project that they have done in 4-H. We may not have been the first to show a Florida Cracker Sheep in a show ring but we are the first to do it on a large scale, showing at any show that is open to a 4-H kid to show (about 10 in a year) and not stop because the judges and other exhibitors had no clue what they were looking at. In the pictures above is our oldest son, The picture above is Austin showing off his Grand Champion Florida Cracker Ram "Rusty".
Our farm is a member of Florida Cracker Sheep Association and Meat Sheep Alliance. The boys are also members of Volusia County 4-H and Meat Sheep Alliance Junior Showman program.
We are working on a Sponsorship program for kids who want to show livestock and can't very some reason. We are working with sheep mostly but if the kids are interested in other livestock we can still try to help. We welcome kids from all walks of life. We are doing this because of Trysten. This program is designed to help kids learn about the sheep industry by teaching basics and helping them learn to show in a show ring. Self esteem, sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect are our goals. If interested by contact us for more information.
